About Steve

Steve is a Christian Java Programmer and recent WordPress convert from the mountainous area of Kinglake, north of Melbourne, Australia. Having recently survived the worst bushfire in Australian history, he decided it was time to update some of his bio pages and get up to date with some of his business networking.
Steve has been a Java Developer since 1997 and has worked with some of the biggest companies in Europe before migrating to Australia in 2006. Steve has worked for companies such as British Telecom and Nokia along with Braemar Seascope.
More recently Steve has become a freelance developer, running his own business which operates under the name of Kabarty. Kabarty specialises in Content Management and E-Commerce Systems for small to medium business, but please open thoses pages up if you really want to know that!
Steve has written some WordPress plugins and is becoming quite familiar with the internals of WordPress programming along with various themes and tweaks that can turn WordPress from a great CMS into an outstanding CMS. He’s also currently looking at some major tweaks to WordPress MU – the MultiUser version of WordPress.
Steve is available for hire as a freelance developer, using Java with Spring, Hibernate and other database technologies. Please e-mail him at steve@the-domain-this-site-is-hosted-at for further details or an informal chat. (Replace the-domain-this-site-is-hosted-at with steve-brown.id.au of course – no spam please, I get enough already).
In his spare time, Steve is an Ambulance First Responder with Kinglake Ambulance First Response Team and does various activities with the local New Horizons Church. And when he’s not doing that, he’s learning to play the drums, courtesy of a local (and very excellent) drum teacher – Mr John Howell.
You can find Steve on LinkedIn or Facebook as well as looking around this site for further information.
